Coaching in US after a 3years break

I went back to US to coach two drivers. Other driver I knew as we used to work together but other was totally new contact. Patrick Gruzska and Alaistair Scully. Both driving Hyundai R5. We had two days in two different kind of roads. I roughly knew were we would be with Pat, but it was still a surprise how much his notesystem had changed over the years, so we had quite alot of work to do. After a rough start is started to come more naturally and end of the two days it felt like it was absolutely the correct way to go.

Pats driving has improved hugely since the last time we worked together, but still there is lots of room to be faster. Mainly learning to trust the notes as now they 100% descraive the road, give you trust and comfirt. Also how to maximize the usage of the road on entry and exit. This generates natural flow in to his driving and not having to work so much. Making the car do the work. I was happy with what we could achieve in two days.

Alaistar has started to drive rally only 1.5yrs ago and moved from a small 2wd fiesta in to a R5 hyundai. Alone the change to this car is huge, then thinking that he has done only 4rallies before just makes it even more challenging. Luckily he has a stromg raving background so things would eventually click.

Also with Alaistair we did lots of changes to notes before driving, but the biggest job was to make him drive the car in the correct way. We all know that these R5/rally2 car are real rallycars, that have been designed so, that they need to be used correctly.

This was the biggest thing with Alaistair, but what was great to see, was that when it suddenly clicked for him and the things I was trying to get him to do and understand came to reality. We did some really big steps overall with Alaistair

After the training the team went to the rally and headed to Mexico. Their rally went really well with Pat being 2nd and Scully 5th in rc2.

We continue the work 9.6 in Ohio, preparing for the next round. Ill also be there fir the rally supporting them both.
